1900 Established as an Indian Mission at 20th NW and NW 63rd in Ballard.
1909 Lots purchased at 20th NW and NW 63rd, as home to Bethany, and named Second Baptist Church.
1916 Reorganized as Bethany Baptist Church, moving to 20th NW and NW 61st in Ballard.
1955 Withdrew from Baptist Convention, and changed name to Bethany Assembly.
1957 Pastor John and Ione McCullough called to Bethany with their family, to shepherd flock of 49 people.
1960-64 College and University students begin attending and becoming leaders in the church.
1968 Growth requires additional space. Committees established to determine remodeling, rebuilding or moving.
1969 Current Sanctuary at N. 80th and Stone Avenue purchased. Building remodeled, with addition of overflow, offices and balcony completed over the next 6 months, all through volunteer labor.
1970 New location dedicated Easter Sunday.
1971 Name changed to Bethany Community Church from Bethany Assembly.
1972 Growth necessitates renting 5 classrooms at neighboring Daniel Bagley Elementary for adult gathering space.
1977 Need for even more space. Architect hired to develop additions to the north.



1980 Construction halted, as current CE Building becomes available for sale and is quickly purchased.
1980's Continued growth with active congregants and multiple services.
1993 Pastor John retires after 37 years of dedicated leadership and services are consolidated into one.
1995 Pastor Richard and Donna Dahlstrom called to Bethany with their family.
1997 Bethany returns to 2 services with average attendance of 310. CE Building remodeled.
2000 Third service is added in the evening with average attendance of 500.
2001 Bethany's 85th Anniversary Celebration in August.
2003 Second evening service added, for total of 4 services with average attendance of 700.
2004 Taskforce commissioned to address growth, ministry needs and facility expansion.
Neighborhood partnerships established. Video Cafe added, for total of 5 Sunday services.
Average attendance at 850, plus a growing children's ministry.
2005 Bethany begins a 3 year stewardship focus titled Share Life! enabling us to expand our facilities.
