Dear Bethany Family,
Greetings! As part of the Bethany family, you and I have an opportunity to invest our resources
in that to which I believe God is calling us during these days. Christ has been eminently faithful
to Bethany for many generations and we are the recipients of facilities granted to us because of
the faith of previous generations. Now we have the chance to increase our capacity, make our
facilities accessible to elderly, upgrade our nursery, and provide increased parking capacity, both
for our own community and for Bagley Elementary. All of this will enable us to strengthen this
home base, from which we will be able to train leaders and work together to create new healthy
churches. This will have the effect of contributing substantially to God's kingdom purposes for
many years to come.
For this reason, we're focusing on stewardship during these few weeks, considering the question
of how God wants us to invest our lives in His kingdom purposes. This consideration, of course,
will affect all areas of our lives including what we do with our money. In the Bible, when
buildings were built for God's purposes, God's people were asked to give a special offering "as
the Lord laid it on each heart." This offering was beyond their normal giving and God viewed
such times not as "fund raising" times, but as times for faith building, as each person sought God
regarding what He wanted them to give.
Towards that end, I invite you to plan now to attend a special
worship service on May 15th, at 11:00 AM, at the University of Washington. And finally, yet
most important, I would ask you to pray for Bethany, and to pray about your involvement and
financial commitment (the special offering God is asking you to give over a period of 3 years).
God has written a remarkable story through Bethany and it is we who are entrusted with the
privilege of participating in the next chapter. May His life continue to direct, sustain, challenge,
and provide for us in every way, to the end that lives will be changed and His kingdom purposes
furthered.
In His Service,
Richard Dahlstrom, Senior Pastor
